Harvard Business Review Article: We Need A Rational Approach to Re-Opening
After unprecedented lockdowns and restrictions to flatten the curve of Covid-19 infection, business and government leaders are wrestling with the question of when and how to ease them. Various approaches are being tried, and there are wide differences of opinion. Much of the broader debate is polarized, as if only two conditions exist — “closed” or “open.” The stakes couldn’t be higher. If there were ever a time for rational decision making, it is now.
AIA reschedules Annual Business Meeting and elections - Virtual meeting to occur September 1
The American Institute of Architects has rescheduled its Annual Business Meeting for Tuesday, September 1, 2020, with candidate elections to follow shortly afterwards. Both had been originally scheduled for May during the Conference on Architecture & Design in Los Angeles but have been postponed due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
The annual business meeting will be virtual. There are currently 10 candidates running for three different offices. In years past, each candidate would address the delegates from the general session stage. This year, candidates will submit video recordings of their speeches prior to the election. The videos will be made available on AIA.org. Delegates will be able to electronically cast ballots for their candidates of choice.
AIA is incorporated in the state of New York and is required by law to hold an annual meeting of its members. This will be AIA’s first virtual annual business meeting. Due to technological limitations, the association will be unable to accept resolutions this year, but time will be reserved for a moderated Town Hall for members to share their comments.
Details regarding the elections and the AIA Annual Business Meeting will be forthcoming
